The Morvan is known for its clean air (no industrial pollution), white cows (Charolais), rolling landscapes and hills. The Morvan consists largely of rural estates separated by walls and hedges and the occasional group of trees and bushes. Approximately 45% of the Morvan is covered with magnificent forests.
Autun is one of the oldest towns in Burgundy. These days Autun is a much loved regional town perfectly suited to the tourist. The building of the most striking structure in town, the cathedral Saint-Lazare, commenced in the 12th century. The tympan of the main entrance is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Roman sculpture. A few town gates and a Roman theatre remain from the Roman era. In the centre of Autun you will find de Champs de Mars, a square with various restaurants and outdoor seating. Every Wednesday and Friday markets are held here. Leading from the Champs de Mars are a variety of streets and alleyways leading to various monuments.
Luzy is a small rural town where you will find some Burgundy restaturants as wel as several shops and supermarkets.
